1. Success is a journey not a destination - I like this one because I believe that it is true and a great thing to learn.
2. Life is not fair get used to it - Because life is not fair and so many people think they can do anything.
3. Life is whats coming-not what was - Because I think you should look forward to your future and not worry about the past.
4. Today is a gift thats why it is called the present - Because I think you should take every day as it comes and not worry about tomorrow or yesterday.

Dare on thursday
Dare to make a choice has been a great learning experiment so far Julie
is so much fun and she has great techniques to make you listen and
really take it in.Yesterday we had lots of fun playing games and doing
work sheets. The game was called minesweeper where we had to work
together to get to the other side shown in the photo above. Then we did
the worksheet, where we had been put into six groups and there were six
work sheets where you have to be a judge that decides what the
consequence will be and the police which say what the penalty is. we
swapped the six sheets around and answered each question if you won you
got lollie pops and the team that comes second gets a fruit burst. We
are
very excited to learn more and see Julie again.

DARE
Dare to make a choice has been a great learning experiment so far Julie is so much fun and she has great techniques to make you listen and really take it in. I never thought that chocolate was a drug. Learning about drugs and alcohol for intermediate students would usually be quite a funny thing but we realise now that it is a very serious matter. I am very excited to learn more and see Julie again.

Romeo Montague
I fell in love within a few seconds from the moment I saw him. His dreamy eyes were fixed on mine. Nothing else mattered at that moment to me but him. I guess you could call this love at first sight. Since then, he has been the love of my life, the love that I call Romeo.
When the light shines from the sky, you can see how attractive Romeo really is. The way his smile lights up the sun looks like millions of candles traveling through the air and his teeth are as white as the clouds they make me fall into a day dream. At the top of his head, you can see how his long brown locks fall to his ears.
My love for Romeo is far greater than our family’s hatred for one-another. Since Romeo is from the Montague family, he’s forbidden to co-operate with me or anyone else from my family. The hatred that my family has towards the Montagues is equivalent to what they think of us Capulets.
Romeo has that type of personality that any girl would want to die for. He’s a true gentleman who would never want to hurt a single fly. If he ever wanted to hurt someone, it’d only be for a certain reason that is very close to his heart. Romeo doesn’t believe in anything that’s involved with violence because he’s a peacekeeper that puts love before his hatred.
In spite of our family’s rule, Romeo was love sick and couldn’t let me go. He made sure that nothing was going to stop him from getting engaged with me. This is what I call a romantic risk taker.
Sadly, He was mislead by my heart and could never live without me. So when I stupidly took a poison to fall to sleep for two days. Romeo fell to sleep with me but when he fell he fell forever. I woke up to find his beautiful head upon my lap this was the end of Romeo Montagues life.

Carbon Cycle
Introduction
Have you ever wondered what you’re breathing in and out every day? Well, you breathe in Oxygen and then you release or breathe out Carbon Dioxide. This is a part of the Carbon Cycle. The Carbon Cycle is a natural cycle that never stops. The Carbon is a key element to all living things such as plants, humans and animals.
Decompose
When a living thing dies it breaks down into smaller matter, this is called decomposing. When a fish or plant dies it releases all the carbon it has stored into the atmosphere or the water where it is then dissolved.
Compaction
Compaction is when something forms or compacts together etc. When plants and trees die they often go into the soil. After a very long time it will compact. (When dead plants don’t accumulate fast enough it compacts).
Photosynthesis
Plants take in Carbon Dioxide that humans and animals produce, then the sunlight helps the plant turn the Carbon into Oxygen after that the plant releases the Oxygen into the atmosphere this process is Photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is making the air nice and clean for us.
Respiration
Respiration is the simple process of breathing. All living aspects breathe, in some sort of way for example we (humans and animals) breathe in oxygen and breathe out Carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Another example is ocean animals breathe out, the carbon dioxide they have just released will dissolve into the ocean.
Humans Impact.
Humans are destroying the Carbon Cycle by burnning fossil fuels, cutting down trees (deforestation), traffic etc. We are raising the possibility of global warming. It has to stop!
Conclusion
In conclusion the Carbon Cycle is a crucial part of our everyday lives but humans are ruining it, we are destroying our own planet. Do you see how bad its getting? Do you want to help? For a start you could car pool or even better catch the bus and tell everyone you Know to do the same. So theres not as much traffic and there are many more ways to help out, please give it a try!

What is the Water Cycle?
Have you ever wondered about how the rain falls? Well if you have, heres everything you need to know about the water cycle. The water cycle goes round and round every day of your life, so it never stops. If we did not have the water cycle, we would not exist along with animals and insects.
Firstly, the water from an ocean, lake, river or plant evaporates up into the air, which then the clouds are formed this is called condensation. After that the rain is stored in the cloud, this is precipitation. When the cloud snows or rains on top of a mountain, the snow melts and becomes water and travels down the mountain through streams and flows into a lake, then the ground water seeps from under the ground and back into the sea. Then the process starts again.
Evaporation is an essential part of the water cycle. This is important because this is the first part of the cycle and if we didn’t have it the water would never make it to the sky to form a cloud which means there would be no rain. The sun extracts water from oceans, lakes and moisture in the ground and evaporates into a cloud.
Condensation is the formation of liquid drops of water from water vapour. It is the process which creates clouds, and so is necessary for rain and snow formation as well.
Precipitation is very important because it plays a very big part in the water cycle, if we didn’t have it we would not have rain. Precipitation is when rain, snow, sleet (any form of water) falls from clouds in the sky.
Collection is when the rain falls from the clouds and the mountain collects it into the streams and then the water flows down to the river or sea.
To conclude, the water cycle is a non stop cycle that is very important to us, animals, insects and the environment. If we didn’t have it we would not be able to survive. The main parts are Evaporation, Condensation, Precipitation and Collection.

science hypothesis and procedure
Ingredients-
2 tblspns warm water
1/2 tspn sugar
1/4 tspn dried yeast granules
-
1 cup sugar
juice of 2 lemons
rind of 2 lemons
1 tspn to 1 tblspn dried ginger
Equipment-
Sharp knife and chopping board
Lemon zester or grater
Lemon squeezer
Rolling pin
Large spoon
Kettle for boiling water
Thermometer
Large bowl or jug
Clean tea towel to cover bowl
Sieve and
Plastic (PET) bottle and cap. Do not use glass bottles!
Steps-
Step 1-First measure the sugar in warm water to dissolve, add yeast and stir. Place in warm place to start working.
Step 2-Finely grate or slice rind from 2 lemons and place in a heatproof container with the 1 cup of sugar and the dried ginger.
Step 3- Pour over 1 cup of boiling water and leave to steep for 10 minutes. Strain into 1.5 L plastic bottle in which the ginger beer will be made. Top up bottle with cool water to near top so that final temp is 2
approx.
Step 4- Add yeast to bottle as soon as it shows signs of working, ie. it foams. Cap bottle tightly. Mix thoroughly and put in a warm place. Leave until bottle becomes undentable. Depending on the yeast this can take anything from 12 hours to 3 days, but best to check regularly, as I guess there is a risk of explosion with this! Refrigerate until thoroughly chilled and OPEN WITH GREAT CARE!
Hypothesis-
The more sugar you add, the more bubbles will be generated which will make the liquid appear more cloudy and may produce some alcohol .
If you add brown sugar instead of white sugar it might lead to more bubbles, a different colour and more cloudy.

Parihaka Poem
Pain lingered through the devastated village,
The smell of agonising death,
The sound of excruciating terror,
As innocent men fall to their knees,
I smell the smoke burning our delicious crops,
My parents have been imprisoned,
I am all alone in this deep dark world.

Te Whiti Biography
Te Whiti-O-Rongomai was born in 1830 at Ngamotu, Taranaki. Te Whiti was in the turmoil of the Musket wars .Te Whiti was educated at Reminschinders missionary school in Warea. His best subject was bible studies. His farther ( Tohukakahi ) was a minor chief.Te Whiti set up a flour mill once he left school in Warea. He lived peacefully on the coast of Parihaka untill he was 35.Te Whiti was a spiritual teacher.
by 1870 Parihaka had the biggest population in all of New Zealand. The Europeans burnt down Te Whiti’s village leaving nothing left no crops, no animals, nothing. Then in 1881 Europeans began taking maori land and brutally hurt the men and raped the women unfairly. Te Whiti ran meetings on the 18th of each month about the progress of the Parihaka movement. Te Whiti wanted to stop the meetings because he believed in peace and none violence but because he wanted to stop he was assaulted and put in jail, which is very mean and unfair.
A few days before Te Whiti got released from jail his wife died. Te Whiti was not allowed to go back to his land or attend his wife’s funeral to say good bye.The families of the other men in jail often died because of the poor conditions they were living in while trying to save there loved ones.Te Whitis time in prison was not all too bad as he learnt how to use European technology.Te Whiti kept protesting in peace but for this he was imprisoned again for six months.
Sadly Te Whiti died from old ageon the 18th of November in 1907.Te Whiti will never be forgotten and his change to Parihaka will live on forever.
Te Whiti is very insertional because he did not believe in violence and stood up for his village untill his death. He has changed 100’s of peoples lives for the better.

Niall Horan Biography
Niall James Horan was born in Mullingar, Dublin, Ireland on 13th September 1993. Mullingar is a small town with a population of 35,000 people. Niall has a mother called Maura and a Father called Bobby. He also has a brother called Greg (24). Niall went to St Mary’s Boys Secondary School.
Niall’s parents split up when he was 5 years old, he lived with his mother for 2 years then swapped between them for a few years but finally he ended up living with his father because it was more convenient for school. Niall was 12 when he started playing the guitar and is still playing now at the age of 18. Niall was studying to become a sound engineer but instead he auditioned for X Factor England in 2010. He got through to boot camp he then got out and was called back by the judges to be asked if he wanted to be in a group which is now known as One Direction. One Direction is a 5 person boy band that went on to come 3rd in X Factor.
Niall is a friendly, funny person. He was also the most devastated when they did not win the X Factor. One Direction won the best British single award at the 2012 British awards for their hit single What Makes You Beautiful. One Direction are touring the world, they are coming to Wellington on April 22 this year. They have become so popular that the tickets to their concert in the Saint James Theater sold out in 10 seconds flat.
We think that Niall James Horan is a very inspiring person because as you can see he followed his dreams although he was just a normal boy and now is a teen sensation.

Letter to the Board
Room 22
Muritai Road
Eastbourne
Dear Board of Trustees and Mr Bird,
I am writing to you to request new desks for room 22 as our current desks are unsuitable.
Firstly, Room 22 have tote trays and every time we need any equiptment we are forced to congest, this distracts any pupils who are learning.I am sure you will agree that this is unaccepeptable. When children are working they require a quiet environment which does not happen when you have to stand up and walk to your desk constantanly.
Secondly, these desks are graffitied, unstable and creaky. These also have big chunks taken out of them. This does not for perants who are coming in and seeing what there children are working on.Our desks are a disgrace.
Thirdly, We have four types of desks in our class, all diffrent heights and diffrent colours. This should not happen as it is unfair to the 21 pupils in our lass when four pupils have tote trays below their desks.
In conclusion room 22 needs new desks so please make it happen for us.
Yours sincerely,
Monica Sullivan
